Cowell, 52, who spends most of the year in his LA mansion, especially since he launched the US X Factor, has kept a pad in London and has vowed to keep coming back to his home country, Daily Mirror reported.

"I love fish and chips, proper curry and I love working with an English audience... I'm not one of those Brits who went off to America and said I'm not coming back, I would never do that. I come back to recharge my British batteries," he said.

Cowell will also join Amanda Holden and others on the Britain's Got Talent panel after a year-long absence.

"The highlight is the unpredictability. I always think I'm never going to be surprised but then, just when I'm thinking 'this is not going well', somebody comes on and just blows you away – that's happened a few times. That's what I love about these auditions, somebody being good when you just don't see it coming."
