Manoj Singh Raina, anassistant in Indian Railways, posted in Udhampur district of Jammu & Kashmir, wins a crore in the episode that airs tonight. “My life has changed. For me, more than money, it was the fact that I met and hugged Amitabh ji (actor Amitabh Bachchan, the show’s host) that I won’t forget throughout my life. Everyone can earn money, how many can meet Mr Bachchan?” says the 44-year-old, who wanted to participate in the show since it started in the year 2000.
“I sat next to the telephone day and night for three months, expecting a call but didn’t make it. There is no newspaper in the remote village, Sangaldan, where I am posted, so to prepare for this season, I tried my best to be well-versed in current affairs by asking people around,” he says.
Raina, who draws a monthly salary of Rs 45,000, has a nine-year-old son and says he will build a house for his family in Chowgam, his ancestral village in Kashmir. “I’ll spend some money on charity. I also want to motivate the jawans of J&K. They should never stop trying even if they fail. Militancy has pushed Kash-mir back by 20 years,” he says.
