Ramayan actor found dead near railway tracks in Mumbai

Apparently, the actor died in a train accident when he was going for the dubbing of a Gujarati film. Rawal was a known name in the Gujarati TV and film circuit as well.

Mukesh Rawal, a small screen actor best known for his role in the TV show Ramayan, was found dead in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Mukesh Rawal had done many character roles in Bollywood.

According to media reports, the actor’s body was found near railway tracks in the Kandivali area of Mumbai. Apparently, he was killed in a train accident while on his way to a dubbing session for a Gujarati film.

66-year-old Rawal was run-over by a train while crossing railway tracks, they said.

His body was found yesterday at 9.33 AM, but the actor’s kin identified him this morning, Commissioner of Railway Police Niket Kaushik told PTI.

The body was found on the tracks between Borivali and Kandivali railway stations, Kaushik said.

“Initially, we could not find anything on the body to identify. Railway Police had issued his photographs at all police stations.

“His son-in-law came at the Kandivali railway station in search of Rawal, who had gone missing. The officials sent him to a hospital where he identified the body,” the Commissioner of Police said.

After autopsy, the body was handed over to his family members, Kaushik said.

Rawal, a known name in Gujarati TV and in the film circuit, is best remembered for playing Vibhishan in Ramayan, a retelling of the mythological epic. He also found fame on shows such as Hasratein and Koi Apna Sa.

Currently he was doing the Gujarati TV serial Nass Nass Mei Khunnas. Rawal was also a popular theatre artiste.
