Neelima Goyal, the wife of SAB TV actor Manoj allegedly committed suicide at her residence at Lokhandwala Complex in Kandivli (East) on Sunday morning. The Samta Nagar police said the 40-year-old woman hanged herself from the ceiling fan.
Manoj worked in a few television serials in the past and was currently working as a cameraman. He also appeared in Hindi films such as Company,Bunty Aur Babli and Black. Known for his TV roles, he appeared in shows such as Golmal Hai Bhai Sab Golmal Hai, Tu Mere Agal Bagal Hai and Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo.
It was Manoj who first found his wife’s body after he returned home for work and informed the police. The couple has an eight-year-old daughter who had gone to attend a tuition class at the time of incident.
Senior inspector Dilip Yadav, Samta Nagar police station, said they found a suicide note from the spot. It was written in Hindi and stated that nobody should be held responsible for her suicide.
The police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and are investigating the matter. “Manoj told us that they were facing financial problems, which often resulted in arguments between the two. The reason for their bickering would be his inability to find a foothold in the film and television industry,” said Yadav.
According to reports, Neelima was also suffering from depression. “The husband of the deceased said she was under depression for the last few days. The suicide note also said she is taking the extreme step under depression.”
