Tonight is the grand finale of Chak de Bachche, the song and dance reality show. It sees a clash between the small towners or Desi Dhurandhars and the Metro Rockers aka city slickers. Cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Mahinder Singh Dhoni will be at the final showdown.
We catch up with Varun Sohal and Loria Doshi (Metro Rockers) and Deepak Tirkey and Nishtha Nag Choudhury (Desi Dhurandars).
When quizzed about their favourite performance, the girls choose the ones in which they scored a full 30. Suraj hua madham for Loria and Bichhua for Nishtha.
We twist the question for the boys and ask if there was any performance they felt shy about.
Varun still goes red thinking about his mini-skirted self in Ladki aankh maare. Deepak claims all the dance sequences with him in a dhoti were embarrassing.
Nishtha giggles about the time his dhoti came off and his underwear was visible. Who is the most tense of them all about the finale? The reply is almost a chorus: "Nishtha!" Apparently the Desi team member breaks down easily and gets hyper too. Winner will take it all The grand prize is being kept a secret. Nishta says if it's cash, she would like to donate it to an organisation that works for polio patients, in her hometown Udaipur.
Deepak will buy a house, Varun looks forward to a trip abroad. Loria, however, is sure that the first prize is a scholarship worth Rs 5 lakh and the second prize a trip to Disneyland. Kids' pick Between the two hosts of the show, the Metro Rockers pick Roshni Chopra as their favourite. The Desi Dhurandars choose Manoj Tiwari. As for the judges, the four say it's tough to choose from the musical brothers, Salim-Suleiman, finally zeroing in on Salim.
Would the Metro bachas ever want to move to the countryside? Varun says smalltown life is peaceful but he'd rather not. Deepak wouldn't leave his hometown for the big bad city ether.
Nishta says she'll move to the city only if she got a chance to make her hometown proud. The politically correct youngster does sound quite like a beauty pageant contestant. Tell her that and she protests, "Par main toh aisi hi hoon, bhaiyya!"
Chak de Bachche airs tonight on 9X at 9 pm.
