After an eventful 2016, with the TV show Suryaputra Karna and shooting for a Bollywood film Aksar 2, Gautam Rode is now looking forward to Vikram Bhatt’s web series. He feels the digital medium is a welcome change. “There is not much money in web series, but you get a lot of creative satisfaction, and one can wrap it [shooting] up quickly. Although, I am doing this new film, I will be able to judge where I stand only once it releases. But I am also sure that I will never quit TV. I will continue to do finite TV series and weekend shows, or host reality shows, which test me as an actor.”

While Gautam is excited about his film, he is anxious about switching mediums. “Being a TV actor, I have done many roles. Working daily at times gets to you. When doing films, ones acting skills are polished, and the actor delivers a better performance. You don’t have to churn out six scenes in a day, so the focus can be on your performance. I will not jump the gun and say its only films from here on, as I don’t know what will happen. One has to be sensible.”

Actors usually turn to films for more fame or money, but Gautam has his own reasons. He says, “There is no money in films, till the time you make it to a certain bracket. It is tough for A-listers on TV, who get a good amount in the TV [industry], to digest the paltry sum [of money] they receive from a film producer, at the beginning of their film career. It’s almost like a debut in films. So money is never the criteria. At the moment, I am not focused on the money, but on doing good work in films to establish myself as an actor.”
