TV actors return, after a pause

Along with the newcomers who make their small screen debut every year, popular, experienced actors are also returning to TV with meaty roles. Cases in point: Pallavi Kulkarni (who played Karishma on Kehta Hai Dil) and Gurdeep Kohli (last seen as Dr Juhi Singh in Sanjivani), who are coming back after a hiatus. We wonder if these other actors will also return after their long breaks.

Sandhya Mridul



Famous for: Playing Shivani in Swabhimaan, Koshish Ek Aasha, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season two

On a break? She appeared in many films and also hosted TV and live events. She will be seen in the new show Private Investigator. She says, "I didn’t want to repeat myself and the roles on TV were getting repetitive."



Shilpa Anand



Famous for: Playing Dr Riddhima Gupta and Dr Shilpa Malhotra in Dill Mill Gayye

On a break? She tried her luck in movies but none of them clicked. Moreover, a few of her projects got stuck. She was approached for TV shows, but nothing materialised.



Shweta Keswani



Famous for: Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, Avantika in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Baa Bahoo Aur Baby

On a break? She did a few movies during her break and got married for the second time. Currently, she is shuttling between the US and India since her husband and daughter live in New York.



Shveta Salve

Famous for: Lipstick, Saarrkar, Left Right Left and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season one

On a break? Her debut film with director Dharmesh Darshan got shelved and she had recently signed a new show Ek Tha Chander… Ek Thi Sudha but that too seems to be stuck. "I got bored of television. I’d been doing TV for many years; I needed a little break to do different stuff and discover more things about myself and life," says Shveta.Akashdeep Saigal



Famous for: Portraying Ansh Virani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and featuring in Bigg Boss season five

On a break? Post his hit TV role, he did many reality shows and also starred in two movies in the last three years. In an earlier report, Akashdeep has stated that he "wants to keep his options open and is interested in good work".



Cezanne Khan



Famous for: Playing Anurag Basu in Ekta Kapoor’s show Kasautii Zindagii Kay.

On a break? He did some Pakistani shows and was supposed to star in Ekta’s next, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, but apparently a delay in the show’s schedule and money matters led to his exit. Explaining his absence from Indian TV, he had earlier told a daily, "I was busy doing serials in Pakistan. If something interesting comes up here, I would love to do that."
