He stresses Copenhagen will “stay on that path” despite new tariff threats and warns that the Greenland dispute and Trump’s talk of a “new tariff‑free zone” must not distract Europe from the “extremely critical” stage of the war in Ukraine, noting broad support among EU partners and reminding that the U.S. is more than just its “unconventional” president because American checks and balances also matter. Rasmussen adds that Denmark will pursue a dual track: continuing a calm, off‑Twitter dialogue with U.S. leaders such as Vice President JD Vance while simultaneously preparing a coordinated EU response if Washington escalates.
