Amitabh Bachchan – "Jai from Sholay was nearly brought alive in a proposed revision"

Jai, the character Amitabh Bachchan played in Bollywood blockbuster Sholay, was almost brought back from the dead in a revision of the iconic movie that was proposed within days of its release. Reminiscing about the movie with journalists on Sunday, Amitabh recalled how the makers of the movie visited his home the weekend the movie was released. He said they proposed a tweak in the climax to bring Jai alive on the assumption audience hadn't taken the ending too well.
