Houthis declare ‘blockade for blockade’ against Saudi Arabia

Houthi leader Mahdi al-Mashat has declared a new “blockade for blockade” policy against Saudi Arabia, warning that the group’s next actions could take “more painful forms.” In a September 20 speech, al-Mashat demanded an end to what he called the Saudi blockade of Yemen, including the reopening of airports and ports and the restoration of Yemeni resources. He said Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb shipping would remain safe, except for vessels linked to Saudi Arabia.
