Another IIT student allegedly commits suicide within a week

A student of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room on 18th April. The deceased was identified as Bheem Singh. He hailed from Faridabad and was studying in the third year of the Ph.D. programme in the mechanical engineering department. The police have found a suicide note from his room and an investigation into the matter has been initiated. Deputy Director of IIT-Kanpur, Manindra Agarwal said that the reason behind the suicide is not clear. The letter has been sent to the forensic team of the police. On 13th April, a 21-year-old student of the IIT, Delhi, allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room. As per his note, he was suffering from depression because he was sexually abused as a child.
