India, China formulate 5-point peace plan during Jaishankar & Wang Yi meet
Amid the ongoing tussle between India and China at the LAC in Ladakh, the foreign ministers of the two nations met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Meeting in Moscow to discuss the issue. The two senior ministers held discussions over the border dispute and the tension that has prevailed in the area since May 2020. The two sides formulated a 5-point plan to help maintain peace and avoid any further skirmish. The 5-point plan was put out by the Ministry of External Affairs and focused on taking forward the consensus reached during meetings on different levels between the two sides. India and China agreed that the current situation at the border does not benefit anyone and hence border troops of both nations should continue dialogue, quickly disengage, maintain proper distance & ease tensions. The statement further read that dialogue will continue through the Special Representative mechanism on the India-China boundary question, WMCC to also continue its meetings.
