At least 30 policemen are feared to have drowned as the boat carrying them came under Maoist attack in Orissa on Sunday. Maoist rebels launched a barrage of gunfire on the boat in Malkangiri district of Orissa. The Maoists operate in a large swathe of India, mostly in the countryside, stretching from the east to some southern states. The four decade old Maoist rebellion has killed thousands of people, as the biggest threat to the country's internal security.
