Advani sounds bugle for 2009 general election

India's main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) harped on carving out a separate state from Andhra Pradesh on Thursday as it eyed general election early next year. The state elections, mostly taking place in central and western India, will pit the ruling Congress-led coalition against the main opposition alliance led by Bharatiya Janata Party.
