Doping: Govt assures strict action against coaches

Sports Minister Ajay Maken on Tuesday said the ministry would sack the coaches along with the athletes who have tested positive in the doping tests. The Ministry fired Ukranian coach Yuri Ogrodnik with immediate effect, over the issue. Maken told reporters at a news conference in New Delhi that eight athletes have failed the dope tests conducted by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) wherein the players consumed banned anabolic steroids. The sports minister also said he has asked the Director General of Sports Authority of India (SAI) to submit a report on the issue within three days.
