FDI in retail: US envoy backs India’s decision

US charge d' affaires, Peter Burleigh, has welcomed India's decision to allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the retail sector, saying the move will not affect small traders, and adding that it will instead prove to be beneficial to farmers and consumers. Burleigh's comments come as a breather for the government which is facing flak from various political parties over its new retail policy.
