Lok Sabha passes nuke liability bill

With government dropping controversial 'intent' clause and introducing 18 major amendments, the Lok Sabha finally passed Civil Nuclear liability bill on Wednesday. As per the bill, the cap for the liability is now raised to 1,500 crore. With the removal of the controversial 'intent' clause, the operator can sue the supplier in wake of nuclear accident without proving the intention of the supplier to cause so. Also the time for filing personal claims has been raised to 20 years from 10 years.
