PM Modi arrived at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi and garlanded the statue of freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malviya, who was conferred with Bharat Ratna yesterday. Significantly, today is also the 153rd birth anniversary of the renowned educationist. The Prime Minister had earlier visited the university before filling his nomination papers in April to pay floral tributes to the statue of Malaviya, the founder of the renowned educational institution. The PM then moved on to Assi ghat where he wielded the broom and nominated nine personalities - including the Nagaland governor, Kiran Bedi, Kapil Sharma and Sourav Ganguly, to participate in Clean India campaign.
