Odisha: Police gunned down 13 Maoists

The top brass of police in Odisha revealed details of the operation that gunned down 13 Maoists, including a very high ranking Maoist leader and a woman cadre, under Kalimela in Malkangiri region of the province. A huge cache of arms and ammunition were also seized after this counter anti-insurgency operation. Briefing the media, Superintendent of Police, Malkangiri, Akhilesh Singh said that an offensive had been launched by the personnel of District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) to track down these Maoists. He revealed that they had managed to obtain prior information of the rebels' hideout.
