Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary of India's ruling Congress party, on January 17 expressed support to reconstruction of Uttar Pradesh and carving out a new state of Bundelkhand. Rahul Gandhi also accused Chief Minister Mayawati's government of failing to implement the Centre's welfare schemes for relief in the drought-hit area.
