Shimla Book Fair on a roll
With twin objectives of promoting the reading and sale of books in the state, a week long Shimla Book Fair organized by National Book Trust (NBT), began recently in Shimla. Himachal Pradesh chief minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal inaugurated the fair and requested NBT to make the fair an annual affair. NBT Director, MA Sikandar, said that over 50 publishers from across the country exhibited their books in the fair. The first Book Fair was held in 2001 and since then the scenario of publishing started to change very rapidly in the state.
