United States Under Secretary for Diplomacy and Public Affairs Karen Huges met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday. Although the details of the meeting were not known, sources in the Prime Minister's office say the two leaders discussed the strengthening of educational ties between the world's two largest democracies. The US government website says 120 US scholars visit India every year and a similar number goes to the US, where at least $2.4 million are spent on their programmes each year.
