NASA joins hunt for UFOs, Unidentified Aerial Phenomena gain mainstream traction

NASA is launching a study of UFOs as part of a new push toward high-risk, high-impact science. UFO study, once a poorly-regarded research backwater, is gaining more mainstream traction. NASA sees this a step in trying to explain mysterious sightings known as unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs). A U.S. Intel report last year cataloged 144 sightings that couldn't be explained - it did not rule out alien origin.
