Fresh political turmoil has erupted in West Bengal, with reports suggesting a major split within the Trinamool Congress as nearly 60 dissident MLAs prepare to back expelled legislator Ritabrata Banerjee as the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly. According to senior leaders in the rebel camp, signatures from around 60 of the TMC's 80 MLAs have been secured in support of Ritabrata Banerjee. The group is reportedly set to submit a letter to Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose seeking recognition as the "real" Trinamool Congress in the assembly.
