The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita and Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain represented India at the funeral ceremony of Iran's slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran on July 3. During the weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the two dignitaries attended the ceremony on behalf of the Government and the people of India and paid their respects. Margherita later shared images from the event, while the Iranian Embassy in India also released visuals of the Indian delegation. The ceremony was attended by several international dignitaries, with former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, and religious leaders from multiple faiths in India also present.
