Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered his New Year address from Beijing, praising China’s unwavering dedication and perseverance in overcoming challenges during the 14th Five-Year Plan. Xi said China’s total economic output is projected to reach 140 trillion yuan, with major gains in economic strength, technology, national defence and overall power. He hailed improved living standards and environmental progress, paid tribute to hardworking citizens, and called for continued reform and high-quality development. Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan, Xi urged confidence, unity and ambition to keep writing new chapters of the “Chinese miracle” and advance common prosperity.
