Fico defended plans to build a new nuclear reactor at Jaslovské Bohunice, stressing that Slovakia’s rising energy needs and climate goals cannot be met without nuclear power. Calling critics “anti-Slovak,” he said the project would be economically viable under current European electricity prices. The proposed reactor, costing €15 billion, could deliver 1,200 MW by 2040, strengthening Slovakia’s energy security and diversification.
