Spain’s ‘very strange’ train disaster in years? Investigators struggle to explain the rail disaster

Spain was plunged into mourning on January 19 after a very strange and deadly high-speed train crash in the southern province of Córdoba. At least 39 people were killed and more than 150 injured when two high-speed trains collided near the town of Adamuz at around 7:45 pm local time, according to initial reports from authorities and Reuters. One train traveling from Málaga to Madrid derailed and slammed into an oncoming train, causing catastrophic damage to multiple carriages and trapping passengers inside.
