The development followed Islamabad’s Operation “Ghazab lil Haq,” which targeted sites in Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia, with Pakistan claiming heavy militant casualties. Afghan officials say retaliatory strikes reached sensitive areas near Islamabad, while clashes intensified along the Durand Line, including Paktia, Paktika and Khost. Saudi Arabia and Iran have since urged restraint to prevent wider regional fallout.
