Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic toil at Madrid Open tennis

Fourth seed Rafael Nadal defeated Fabio Fogigni 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-4 on Wednesday in the third round of the Madrid Open, while second seed Novak Djokovic beat Nicolas Almagro 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 the second round. It took Rafael Nadal nearly three hours to defeat Fabio Fognini at the Madrid Open. The first set was decided in the tie-break with Nadal breaking three times Fognini's serve. Nadal needed two match points to seal the victory 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-4. The home favourite faces Australian Nick Kyrgios in the quarter-finals. Novak Djokovic cruised the first set against 76th-ranked Nicolas Almagro. Almagro looked better in the second set, but Djokovic rallied to close out the match. The 6-1 4-6 7-5 scoreline sets up an encounter against Spain's Feliciano Lopez. Video: SNTV
