This Is A Problem…’: Sri Lanka Responds To Growing Chorus In India To ‘Reclaim’ Katchatheevu

Sri Lanka has said that the statements coming on ‘reclaiming’ Katchatheevu island in India has “no ground”, and Colombo sees no reason to hold discussions with New Delhi on the issue. “This is a problem discussed and resolved 50 years ago and there is no necessity to have further discussions on this,” Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Ali Sabry said, as per a report in The Hindu. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently accused Congress and DMK of “handing over” the island to Sri Lanka in 1974.
