Why USA top court judge’s death caused political fight: Trump vs Biden
The death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the United States Supreme Court has become a major political flashpoint ahead of the Presidential elections. Sitting President Donald Trump has said that he wants to appoint a successor to the top court without much delay. However, his challenger in the upcoming polls, Joe Biden, has said that a new judge should be nominated only after a new President is elected. Reiterating his intention at a political rally in North Carolina’s Fayetteville, Trump said that on at least 29 occasions in US history, the sitting President selected a US Supreme Court judge during an election year, or before the new Commander-in-Chief’s swearing-in. Trump even hinted that Ginsburg’s successor would also be a woman. The Opposition Democratic party is wary because the late judge was seen as liberal, and Trump’s nominee may tip the Supreme Court towards the ideological right. Watch the full video for more.
