Biden govt's convenient lie, calls Taliban & Haqqani Network 'separate' entities

The United States of America (USA) has claimed that the Haqqani network is a separate entity which operates independently from the Taliban. However, contrary to claims of the Biden administration, the Haqqanis and Taliban have always maintained that they are not separate from each other. In fact, Haqqani network chief, Sirajuddin Haqqani is the deputy leader of the Taliban. His father and founder of Haqqani Network, Jalaluddin Haqqani was a trusted aide of Taliban founder Mullah Omar. The Haqqanis have played a key role in Taliban resurgence and its takeover of Kabul as it has highly trained militants who specialise in suicide attacks and car bombings. The Haqqanis have previously carried out high-profile attacks in Afghanistan targeting not just United States and its allies but also Indian interests and installations. The Haqqanis have a special relationship with Al Qaeda, both personal and operational. In this report, we look at the history of the Haqqani network, its past and present and who is who among its leaders.
