UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is reportedly considering stepping down, triggering fresh turmoil at the top of British politics. According to a report by journalist Dan Hodges, citing an unnamed cabinet minister, Starmer “understands the political reality”. Pressure on Starmer has intensified sharply after four ministers resigned on May 11, even as he publicly insists he will not quit. Starmer became prime minister in 2024, the UK’s fifth premier since the 2016 Brexit vote, in a period of almost continuous political instability in which no prime minister has completed a full term since David Cameron.
