Mexico to keep Cuba aid flowing, pauses fuel as Sheinbaum slams US sanctions

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has confirmed that her government will keep sending humanitarian aid to Cuba – including food and other essential supplies – but will not provide fuel “for now,” even as U.S. tariffs tighten on countries selling oil to the island and deepen Cuba’s ongoing economic and services crisis. She has condemned Washington’s reinforced sanctions, reiterated Mexico’s opposition to such economic measures in the name of “cooperative solidarity,” and simultaneously signaled a non‑interventionist line by saying Mexico will likely only send its UN ambassador as an observer to the upcoming U.S.-promoted “Board of Peace” meeting in Washington on Gaza reconstruction.
