The planned October 15 debate between US President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden was officially cancelled on Friday. This comes a day after Trump rejected a decision to change its format to a virtual event. The decision to change format was taken by the organizer, nonpartisan commission. The debate was originally scheduled as a town hall-style encounter in Miami. It was intended to be the second of three presidential debates. The final one is planned for October 22 in Nashville, Tennessee. Meanwhile, Biden scheduled a televised town hall-style event for himself that evening. Last Friday, the US President announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19. After being in hospital for three days, Trump was released on Monday. The US presidential election 2020 is scheduled to take place on November 3.
