India’s proposed acquisition of five additional S-400 Triumf air defence systems from Russia has moved forward, with Moscow sending a Bill of Quantities proposal to New Delhi detailing construction and material costs for negotiations. The final S-400 system from India’s existing 2018 contract, worth USD 5.43 billion, is expected to reach India in November this year. According to authoritative sources, the proposal to acquire five more S-400 squadrons will require approval from the Cabinet Committee on Security after costs are finalised with Russia and the Finance Ministry gives its clearance.
