Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has warned that an attack on Serbia cannot be ruled out, citing escalating tensions between Europe and Russia linked to the war in Ukraine. Speaking during a visit to the Banjica military barracks in Belgrade, Vucic said Serbia must prepare for potential threats arising from what he described as growing military preparations for a wider Europe-Russia conflict. He announced plans to further strengthen Serbia’s armed forces, including tank, missile and artillery units, alongside heavy investment in unmanned systems. Vucic also revealed that Serbia expects to open its first major drone factory by early April. Serbia’s defence push comes amid scrutiny from the European Union, which has criticised Belgrade’s close ties with Moscow as it seeks EU membership.
