Zelensky embarrassed, ministers quit over corruption scandal
As Russia escalates its offensive, Ukraine is staring at another major challenge. Senior members of the Ukrainian cabinet are facing a flurry of damaging corruption allegations. After President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a major reshuffle at all levels, there has been a string of resignations with senior officials resigning. The scandal surrounds the Ukrainian Defence Ministry with allegations of illicit payments to deputy ministers and over-inflated military contracts. Deputy Defence Minister Vyacheslav Shapovalov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Kyrylo Tymoshenko and Deputy Prosecutor General Oleksiy Simonenko are among the officials who have quit.
