UN begins registration and storage of weapons

The Nepal Army presented approximately 850 weapons for registration and storage to the United Mission of Nepal on Tuesday. This was the first day of registration and as dictated by the agreement, Nepal's army has successfully started locking some of its arms in containers.The agreement requires the army to match the number of weapons stored by the Maoists. Throughout the registration process UNMIN arms monitors were present, and will maintain a 24 hour seven days a week presence at Chhauni Barrack of Nepal Army in Kathmandu.
