UN chief flies to Myanmar

The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon flew to Myanmar on Thursday to press the ruling generals to allow a full-blown international aid effort for 2.4 million cyclone victims. The UN chief arrived in Thailand on May 21 and said that helping cyclone victims in Myanmar should not be politicized but focused on saving lives. Ban said he would meet Myanmar ministers, who are involved in the relief effort and also the military government's Senior General Than Shwe in Naypyidaw on May 23.
