Russia has begun evacuating the Belgorod region following Ukraine's largest incursion since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war. President Vladimir Putin emphasised the need for the Defence Ministry to drive out enemy forces and secure the state border. "The main task is, of course, for the Defence Ministry to dislodge the enemy from our territories and, together with the border service, to ensure reliable cover and protection of the state border," Putin said. Russian officials are evacuating citizens from the Belgorod region, with Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov citing increased "enemy activity" near the border as the reason for the evacuation.
