The move comes after protesters in Bangladesh began a march to the Indian high commission, seeking repatriation of Sheikh Hasina, who has been in exile in India since her ouster in August 2024.

Bangladesh violence live updates: India on Thursday closed two visa application centres in Bangladesh as protesters tried to march towards Indian missions there.

The Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in Khulna and Rajshahi were closed on the grounds of security concerns amid protest marches towards the facilities that were stopped by security officials, news agency PTI reported.

Both the rallies saw protesters accusing India of sheltering deposed PM Sheikh Hasina, and demanding her immediate extradition.
