Trump claims Iran has asked for ceasefire: ‘Will consider when Strait of Hormuz is open’

US President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that Iran's new regime President has urged the United States for a ceasefire amid the ongoing war.
Trump added that he would consider the proposal when the Strait of Hormuz is open, free and clear.
Calling Iran's new regime “much less radicalized”, Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, “Iran’s New Regime President, much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE! We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear."
He added that until Strait of Hormuz is not open, US will “blast Iran into oblivion”.
"Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages,” Trump wrote.

Iran has not yet reacted to Trump's claim of its ceasefire request.
Trump's remarks come just hours ahead of his address to Americans regarding the status of war.
Earlier on Tuesday (local time), Trump had also indicated the US' operation in Iran may conclude within weeks even if a formal agreement with Tehran is not reached.

Giving a timeline of how long that might take, Trump said, while speaking at the White House, that the United States would be “leaving very soon", around “within two weeks, maybe two weeks, maybe three.”
He added that US forces were “finishing the job” before withdrawing.
“All I have to do is leave Iran, and we’ll be doing that very soon, and they’ll come tumbling down,” Trump said.
So far, there has been ambiguity on the status of the war in Iran, with no clarity on when it may actually end and what it may actually take to end it.
Giving mixed signals on what is going on and the coordination between the US and Israel amid the war, Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue Israel’s military campaign against Iran.
“The campaign is not over… we will continue to crush the terror regime,” Netanyahu said, indicating that Israel may continue to strike Iran even if US pulls back.
