Pakistan Stock Exchange's (PSX) benchmark KSE-100 index shed 1,250.07 points on Monday, a day after the President, in a controversial move, dissolved the National Assembly, leading to political uncertainty in the country.

The Pakistani rupee also lost value against the US dollar following President Arif Alvi's decision to dissolve the lower house of Parliament on the recommendation of Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was expected to lose a no-confidence vote.

The Pakistan Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing into a suo-moto notice over ruling from Dy Speaker Qasim Suri against no-confidence motion till Tuesday.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial said the court will consider the legality of the current situation and issue a "reasonable order". He further said, "The speaker has discretion to reject a dissolution.”

A larger bench, comprising the CJP, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel, Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, were currently hearing the matter.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has proposed former CJP Justice (R) Gulzar Ahmed as caretaker Prime Minister, ANI reported citing radio Pakistan

Refering to Imran Khan's claim of threat by the US, Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Shahbaz Sharif on Monday said that a no-confidence motion was submitted on March 8 and if there was a threat why wasn't it raised before March 24, news agency ANI reported.

Addressing a press conference today the PML-N chief said that Imran Khan along with his party members has blatantly challenged the Constitution of Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Monday said that a "reasonable order" would be issued on the the legality of the current political situation in the country as the apex court heard the dismissal of a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan and the subsequent dissolution of Parliament by the President on the advice of the embattled premier.

A speaker can reject a resolution as per the Assembly rules, Justice Muneeb Akhtar of the Supreme Court of Pakistan said during the hearing of the suo motu notice on the constitutional crisis triggered after National Assembly deputy speaker ruled the no-confidence resolution against Prime Minister Imran Khan "unconstitutional", Pak media outlet Geo TV reported.

PM Imran Khan has summoned a meeting of PTI Parliamentary Board on Tuesday (tomorrow). According to sources privy to the matter, he'll chair the meeting of the parliamentary board which would consult over ticket distribution in the next election, Pakistani media outlet The Nation reported.

If the court rules the deputy speaker was out of line, the parliament will reconvene and hold the no-confidence vote on Khan, legal experts told AP. If the court upholds the latest actions, Pakistan is heading into early elections.

Supreme Court today resumed hearing into a suo-moto notice over ruling from Dy Speaker Qasim Suri against no-confidence motion with Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial saying that they would issue an appropriate order on the matter today, Pakistan's ARY NEWS reported.

Pakistan media has criticised the dissolution of the National Assembly in the country, saying that whatever happened on Sunday violated all rules governing proceedings in the House, particularly those dealing with the motion of no-confidence. 

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan revealed that Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu had sent a threatening message to him through Pakistan's envoy Ambassador Asad Majeed.

The combined Pakistan opposition chose its own speaker and held a parallel session as the no-trust vote against the beleaguered prime minister Imran Khan was dismissed earlier on Sunday.

Pakistan Supreme Court will be hearing the petition moved by opposition challenging the dismissal of no-confidence motion against Imran Khan on April 4. 

Soon after the Pakistan assembly speaker refused to accept the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan, he addressed the nation in Islamabad. During his address, Imran called for fresh and early elections.
