Prince Harry's ghostwriter on how Meghan Markle made him feel at home

Meghan Markle gifted his children some toys while he was away from his family, the ghostwriter said.

Ghostwriter of Prince Harry's memoir- JR Moehringer- who visited the couple's home a number of times during the writing of ‘Spare’, recalled Meghan Markle's sweet gesture to him after he revealed that he was missing his family. Meghan Markle would visit him in the guest house and bring "trays of food and sweets", he said, adding that she also gifted his children some toys while he was away from his family.

The ghostwriter also said that as he rigorously fact-checked Prince Harry's book before it was released, he was shocked when one anecdote came up for discussion. In the memoir, Prince Harry said that he always looked forward to the yearly sales at TK Maxx, the discount clothing chain. Although, the store hit back on Twitter claiming it "never has sales, just great savings all the time!"

“The monarchists at TK Maxx corporate, who rushed out a statement declaring that TK Maxx never has sales, just great savings all the time! Oh, snap! Gotcha, Prince George Santos! Except that people around the world immediately posted screenshots of TK Maxx touting sales on its official Twitter account,” JR Moehringer said.

The ghostwriter also hinted that the store's attempt to discredit Prince Harry may be due to its long-standing links to King Charles and The Prince's Trust. The ghostwriter also said that following the publication, the response had been that of a “frenzied mob” and that he and his family had been targeted by the paparazzi.

“The British press now converted the book into their native tongue, that jabberwocky of bonkers hot takes and classist snark. Facts were wrenched out of context, complex emotions were reduced to cartoonish idiocy, innocent passages were hyped into outrages – and there were so many falsehoods," he said.
