Donald Trump revealed on Friday that his son Barron Trump "was very hurt" after hearing about the assassination of conservative political activist and author Charlie Kirk. The 31-year-old, who was a close ally of the president, was shot in the neck while speaking at an event on the campus of Utah Valley University in Utah's Orem on September 10.

Speaking on Fox & Friends, the president said his 19-year-old son “was very hurt when he saw this.” “But, I mean, everybody was.”

Barron, who admired Charlie Kirk, recently shifted back to the White House as he attends New York University's DC campus.

On the show, Trump even recalled the moment when Barron once asked him about Kirk. “Baron came to me and he said, 'Dad, I'd like to meet somebody that you know, Charlie Kirk,'” the commander-in-chief said.

At first, Trump thought his son would ask him to meet somebody like “King Charles or something.” “And he came back and said, 'That guy's (Charlie Kirk) great, Dad. That guy's great.' It was cute,” he said of his son.

Praising his longtime ally, Trump said that he used to have a "magic" over the younger generation, which included a large number of people and was "very diverse."
