4 Indians jailed for forgery in Dubai

A court has sentenced four Indians and a Syrian for forging signatures on cheques and encashing them.

A Dubai court has sentenced four Indians and a Syrian for forging signatures on cheques and encashing them, a media report here said on Tuesday.

The five men confessed before the Court of Misdemeanour that they had made company cheques to the tune of Dh 312,834 (Rs 37.54 lakh) in their own names and forged signatures, the Gulf News said. They had intended to split the money between them, it added.

The court sentenced them to six months' imprisonment after which they would be deported, the report said.
