In Baquba, some 60 km north of Baghdad, joint US-Iraqi forces killed three Al-Qaeda militants during military operations on Friday, the Iraqi news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI) said.

One civilian was killed and another injured when an explosive device went off near the same city.

In another development, militants killed a tribal sheikh of the Sadrist movement late on Friday in the southern city of al-Najaf, VOI said.

In northern Kirkuk, joint US-Iraqi forces detained five Al Qaeda suspects during a military operation early on Saturday.
