The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government had received information about the regrouping of terrorist gangs in the suburbs of Peshawar, provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain told a group of journalists on Thursday
The government was compelled to carry out search operations to prevent incidents like the suicide attack at Yakaghund in Mohmand Agency that killed over 100 people.
People living in Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda districts, where search operations were underway, might face some hardships, Hussain said.
"The government has to take these strict measures to flush out militants and avoid any untoward incident," he added.
The sole objective of these operations is to flush militants from urban and suburban areas where they were reported to have strengthened their networks, he said.
